Brief: Read from the book ‘Material Methods’. The passage aims to open up the questions surrounding our own perceptions of objects residing in the material world, and how we mentally engage with them.

Tangible. Tools to enable the daily tasks. Vehicles for experiences. Or symbolism.

Most of the time functionality is the main purpose of my objects. A recurring theme is representation. Objects in the home represent my values, style, mental state. And when they don’t they bother me.

Experience and memory can influence the connection you have with an object. Objects given can be a reminder of a feeling or experience that once existed and is now distant or disintegrated.

Further involvement with an object can cement or change the existing connection.

And what of the future…..a catalyst to a significant experience?
The intangible made tangible.
